The Proscenium Theatre at the Drake

The Proscenium Theatre at the Drake is an intimate black box theater located in Philadelphia’s vibrant arts district. The space comfortably seats 121 audience members and features a versatile performance area approximately 35 feet wide by 26 feet deep with 15-foot ceilings, making it ideal for improv, sketch, stand-up, clown, and experimental live performance. The venue’s close audience proximity creates an energetic, immersive atmosphere perfect for comedy and collaborative theater experiences.

Getting to The Proscenium Threatre at The Drake

The Proscenium Theatre at The Drake is located at:

302 S. Hicks Street

  • Just off the 1500 block of Spruce Street in Philadelphia.

  • Entrance to both The Proscenium Theatre and The Louis Bluver Theatre is located on Hicks Street, on the east side of the building between Spruce and Pine Streets.

Public Transportation

SEPTA
Take the Broad Street Line (Orange Line) to Walnut-Locust Station, located just two blocks from the theater. Riders on the Market-Frankford Line (Blue Line) can transfer for free to the Broad Street Line at 15th Street or take a short 10-minute walk.

PATCO
Take the PATCO High Speed Line to the final stop at 15th Street Station. Exit at 15th & Locust, walk one block south to Spruce Street, then head west to Hicks Street. The theater entrance will be halfway down the block on the right.

Bus Routes
Nearby SEPTA bus routes include 4, 12, 21, 27, 32, and 42, with stops along Broad, Walnut, Chestnut, Locust, and Spruce Streets.

Regional Rail
All SEPTA Regional Rail lines stop at Suburban Station. From there, attendees can transfer to the Broad Street Line or take a roughly 10-minute walk to the theater.

Driving Directions

From I-95
Follow signs to I-676 West and take Exit 22 toward Broad Street/PA-611. Merge onto 15th Street heading south. Continue to Spruce Street, turn right, then turn left onto Hicks Street. The theater will be halfway down the block on the right.

From I-76
Take I-676 East toward Central Philadelphia and exit at 15th Street. Continue south on 15th Street to Spruce Street, turn right, then left onto Hicks Street. The theater entrance will be on the right-hand side.
